When a module fails, you cannot match the original color or brightness — resulting in visible patching across the screen. Or worse, the entire screen has to be replaced.
Higher Energy Consumption
Lower-quality power supplies and drivers consume more electricity per square meter, and often run hotter — which shortens component life. A TCO comparison should include:
- Purchase price: hardware, structure, control system, and installation.
- Energy cost: annual power consumption for 200–400 operating hours.
- Maintenance cost: module replacement, cleaning, and calibration.
- Spare parts reserves: recommended components to stock locally for fast replacement.
- Downtime risk: cost of a system being offline during a match or event.
- Upgrade cost: any software or hardware updates needed over the lifetime.

Questions to Ask Before You Buy

- What is the failure rate on your modules after 3 years? A serious supplier will have data. A cheap supplier will not.
- How long will spare parts be available for this model? Any answer below 7 years is a warning sign.
- What is the power consumption per square meter at 100% brightness? Compare this number across suppliers — it affects lifetime cost significantly.
- Do you offer remote monitoring and diagnostics? If not, your team owns every problem after shipment.
- Is there an API or integration path for the control system? If not, you cannot add new features later.
